Dissolve 1.0g of Cyproheptadine Hydrochloride in 25mLof methanol,add methyl red TS,and titrate with 0.10Nsodium hydroxide:not more than 0.15mLis required (0.05%as HCl).

Assay
Dissolve about 650mg of Cyproheptadine Hydrochloride,accurately weighed,in 50mLof glacial acetic acid,heating to dissolve.Cool,add 10mLof mercuric acetate TS,0.5mLof acetic anhydride,and 1drop of crystal violet TS,and titrate with 0.1Nperchloric acid VSto a green endpoint.Perform a blank determination,and make any necessary correction.Each mLof 0.1Nperchloric acid is equivalent to 32.39mg of C21H21N·HCl.
